Santa Barbara County, California- (July 21, 2014) The approaching August issue of Wine Enthusiast Magazine highlights the best of California wine and food. As part of this special issue, Wine Enthusiast magazine awarded Lucas & Lewellen’s 2012 Estate Vineyards Chardonnay with a 91 point score. The popular food friendly style and acclaim of this score has spurred interest in this Chardonnay at Lucas & Lewellen’s Tasting Room in downtown Solvang.
Director of Winemaking, Megan McGrath Gates, says: “This Chardonnay embodies the region and soils from which it hails in northern Santa Barbara County. The area is illustrious in its own right. Our 2012 Lucas & Lewellen Estate Vineyards Chardonnay doesn’t disappoint with its creamy entry, mouth feel, and flavors that dance and linger. It was not aged in oak but did go through malo-lactic fermentation which gives rise to rich aromas: fresh creamery butter, tropical notes, citrus, and true-to-variety signature Chardonnay character.”

The new kid on the block has quickly become one of our most requested wines.
