Cellars of SonomaSonoma, California | July 20, 2014: Join the Napa | Sonoma chapter of Women for WineSense (WWS) at Cellars of Sonoma in downtown Santa Rosa’s Historic Railroad Square on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., for a casual, happy-hour meetup. The informal, networking gathering is free (except for your beverages at the bar) and open to members and guests. Bring your friends and make new ones. Exchange business cards with other colleagues in the wine and hospitality industries.

Throughout the year the chapter hosts several events to meet its goals to foster wine education development and networking opportunities for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts. Some of these events serve as fundraisers for its scholarship fund. “Last year the chapter awarded $10,000 in scholarships at U.C. Davis, Sonoma State University, Napa Valley College and Santa Rosa Junior College,” recalled chapter president Christine Mueller. “In 2014 our goal is to increase our awards even more to each of our schools,” she explained.

The scholarship program was started in 2002 by the Napa|Sonoma chapter of WWS to help students with financial challenges pursue a career in the Wine Industry.  This furthers WWS’s goals of engendering passion and education for wine making, marketing and enjoyment, and allows students that may not otherwise have access to the excellent educational institutions in Northern California.

Additional upcoming WWS chapter networking and education events that help raise funds for its scholarship program include “Connect with the WWS Community II” on August 14th at St. Clair Brown Winery in Napa (https://wws-st-clair-brown.eventbrite.com), and “Women in Wine” at Silver Oak Winery in Oakville on September 11th.  These programs are just part of the networking, educational and fundraising events the chapter offers for professional, aficionado and student or young professional members.
