Lace up your shoes and join us for the Great Arizona Grape Stomp

Arizona Wine GrowersPHOENIX – There may be no better way than to experience Arizona’s beautiful wine regions than with your family and friends as you jog, run, or walk in the annual Grape Stomp Five Kilometer Series sponsored by the Arizona Wine Growers Association (AWGA). The AWGA represents grape growers and wine producers throughout the state while promoting this fast-growing industry. We are excited to announce that this year a portion of the proceeds for each ticket sold will benefit the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation. The donations will help Phoenix Children’s Hospital patients get the medical treatment they need to lead healthier, happier lives.

Over the years, the Grape Stomp has become increasingly more popular, and we are expecting even stronger participation this year.  Please join us to support the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation and learn more about the family farms producing Arizona’s fastest growing specialty crop—wine grapes and the amazing wines being produced.

The races are set for the following dates and locations:

Race 1: Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Lightning Ridge Cellars in Elgin, in Southern Arizona. Racers will be able to run through the vineyards at this award-winning winery.

Race 2: Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Zarpara Vineyard in Wilcox in Southeastern Arizona. The course will guide runners through this beautiful, esteemed vineyard with scenic views of the Dos Cabezas Mountains.

Race 3: Saturday, October 18, 2014 in Historic Downtown Cottonwood. Racers will run through the streets in historic downtown and enjoy special wine tastings in the six tasting rooms of Historic Downtown Cottonwood.

Race 4: November 1, 2014 at the Fountain Park in Fountain Hills in Central Arizona. The race course traverses Fountain Hills Park with beautiful views of Four Peaks, Red Mountain, and the park’s centerpiece fountain. A mini-wine garden will follow the race where racers and non-racers can enjoy a taste of Arizona wines for an additional fee.

Participants are encouraged to enjoy wine tasting following each race.

To register for any or all of the races, go to http://www.arizonawine.org/events.html. The registration fee includes a runners’ tote bag, event t-shirt, wine glass, and discount coupons. The wine glasses can be used at local wineries to receive discounts. Many of the wineries will form teams – join your favorite winery team!
