Buy any 12 wines made in Israel by participating wineries and a donation will be made to Israel’s Red Cross by the Israeli Wine Producers Association (IWPA)

Israel Wine Producers AssociationNew York, July 31, 2014  —  Now more than ever, Israel needs support and oenophiles can do their part to help by purchasing Wines from Israel. For every 12 bottles of Israeli wines purchased from participating wineries, the Israeli Wine Producers Association (IWPA), will donate $24.00 to Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency medical response organization, similar to the USA’s Red Cross.

“Many of us are grappling with how we can help Israel now. We can all still take action to lift Israel’s spirits and help its economy by purchasing wines from Israel,” says Joshua Greenstein, Executive Director of the IWPA. “One hundred percent of the $24.00 is donated directly to American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA), which will then send the funds to MDA in Israel, so we urge you to go to your local wine and spirits retailer and ask about the Wines from Israel promotion. Rebate flyers will be available at all participating retailers,” Greenstein adds.

Among the wineries participating are Gamla, Barkan, Carmel, Shiloh, Binyamina, Flam, Segal’s and Domaine du Castel, and others. Many Israeli wines have won gold medals & trophies in major international competitions, and receive high scores from the world’s leading wine critics.

Israeli wines are made from the classic varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah/ Shiraz, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and rarer varieties such as Old vine Carignan, Petite Sirah, Argaman and Viognier, and can be found in a variety of price points ranging from $10 – $100.00 per bottle.

In addition to retailers, rebates flyers will also be available at the websites of IWPA (www.iwpa.com) and AFMDA (www.afmda.org).

Israel is famed for its agriculture and advanced technology, and they are integrated into its vineyards and wineries.  Its winemakers and viticulturists are dynamic and internationally trained.

The IWPA was established to unify the leading quality Israeli wineries in a concerted effort to promote Israel as a “fine wine growing region.” IWPA positions these fine Israeli wines as an essential category to be included in all better wine retail outlets and restaurants. Israel has been able to take their ancient history and blend it with the most modern technology to produce some of the finest wines available and become one of the fastest growing winemaking regions in the world. The IWPA includes a cross section of the Israel wine industry, with the participating wineries ranging from large to small, old to new, representing every wine growing region.

MDA is Israel’s national ambulance, blood-services, and disaster-relief organization, serving as emergency medical first responders for the state’s 8 million people. MDA is the only organization mandated by the Israeli government to serve in this role, but it’s not a government agency, so it relies on donations for funding. American Friends of Magen David Adom, a tax exempt organization, is the largest supporter of MDA worldwide, and helps to save thousands of Israeli lives.
