Sonoma State UniversitySonoma State University’s Wine Business Institute began offering its fully online Wine Business Management certificate in 2012. A first of its kind the certificate is the Institute’s most comprehensive professional development offering, consisting of three sequential levels exploring topics such as financial accounting and management, wine commerce and trade, sales, marketing and current and upcoming wine business strategy. So far, this program has had more than 400 participants from a variety of wine producing countries including Italy, South Africa, and Australia.

Now, in its third year, the Wine Business Institute has continued to improve the program. Working with an instructional designer, each course level of the program has been honed to more directly address critical facets of the wine industry and provide students with a systematical and structured learning experience. The newly redesigned courses, Foundation: Introduction to Wine Business and Intermediate: A Survey of the Key Drivers in a Wine Business, include prerecorded and live lecture sessions, case studies and individual research, along with weekly assigned reading and modular quizzes.

The next Foundation level offering begins September 10th, applications accepted through August 27th. For more information visit www.sonoma.edu/winebiz or contact Erin Ringstad, erin.ringstad@sonoma.edu, or 707-664-3235.
