Russian River ValleySanta Rosa, CA (May 26, 2015) – Rod Berglund, Board President of the Russian River Valley Winegrowers (RRVW), announces the annual Russian River Valley Passport Weekend (formerly called Passport to Pinot) – the renowned winegrowing AVA’s two-day celebration, taking place June 27-28, 2015. The highly anticipated weekend of events explores the rugged beauty of this Sonoma County wine region and its hidden gems; including world-class wines, local food and unmatched hospitality.

The Russian River Valley Passport Weekend offers exclusive tasting opportunities at more than 30 acclaimed Russian River wineries from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, while showcasing famed Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and other cool-climate varietal wines. Guests will enjoy preferred access to pre-release wines, barrel, library and limited edition winery-only wines, as well as unique experiences at participating wineries, many of which aren’t normally open to the public. The event offers a rare opportunity for guests to gain access to winemakers and owners. For a full list of participants visit rrvw.org/rrv-passport

A limited number of VIP package tickets are available for the full weekend, which includes the two-day Passport experience in addition to an intimate barbecue dinner hosted in the heart of the Russian River Valley at Gail Ann’s Vineyard on Saturday, June 27. The barbecue features an informal fireside chat with storied vintners who’ve been making wine in the Russian River for decades, ten stellar wineries pouring their best and a whole pig roast. Ticket prices for the VIP weekend are $150 per person; two-day Passport only are $65 per person; Sunday-only are $40; and a Designated Driver ticket is available for $20. They can be purchased on the RRVW website.

The Russian River Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA) is located in the heart of Sonoma County, California, just 55 miles north of San Francisco. The seasonal fog and tempering effects of the Pacific Ocean to the west provide this area with an uncommonly long growing season, and ideal conditions for cool climate-loving grape varieties, most notably Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The growing conditions result in wines of uncommon depth and richness that still maintain bright, natural acidity.
