A new wine and new look make a bold statement

Beauty - Gran Cuvée Reserva BeautyPENDÉS, SPAIN – Segura Viudas, the Spanish Cava known for its artisan approach and remarkable quality-price ratio, announces the launch of its new Segura Viudas Gran Cuvée Reserva and a sharp new look to its packaging.

Segura Viudas Gran Cuvée Reserva ($14 SRP) is a new venture for veteran winemaker Gabriel Suberviola.  Made only in exceptional years when the climate, soil, and harvest conditions are optimal, Gran Cuvée Reserva is a blend of the region’s ancient Macabeo and Parellada grapes harvested by hand from old vines, with a touch of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir which adds an element of richness, balance and complexity.  Extended aging on the lees in the winery’s subterranean caves gives the wine significant depth and structure. Gran Cuvée Reserva takes its place as the new middle tier in the Segura Viudas line between the popular Brut, Brut Rosé and Extra Dry tier (all $10 SRP) and the estate’s top cuvée, Reserva Heredad ($25 SRP).

The launch of Segura Viudas Gran Cuvée Reserva is concurrent with a significant repackaging of the Segura Viudas line.  The bold new packaging introduces warm chestnut undertones to create a look that is elegant yet masculine.  The stately Segura Viudas crest figures prominently in the new design, creating continuity with the top-of-the-line Reserva Heredad, known for its impressive, pewter-embellished bottle.

The modernized packaging creates a unified family of wines that celebrates the winery’s history, while appealing to a consumer audience that values authenticity, individuality, and adventure. These aspects are also reflected by the brand’s consumer outreach in outdoor and extreme sports competitions, highlighting the tenet that greatness comes from within.
