Certification Programs in Wine Industry Finance and Accounting, Direct-to-Consumer Wine Sales Launch in November

Early Registration Ends October 26 for Wine Business Institute’s Professional Training Seminars

Sonoma-State-University-500x215Rohnert Park, California – The Wine Business Institute (WBI) at Sonoma State University (SSU) today announced its Fall 2016 schedule of professional training seminars toward the Certificate in Direct-to-Consumer Wine Sales begin Thursday, November 3, and seminars toward the Certificate in Wine Industry Finance and Accounting begin Wednesday, November 16. Seminars are open to the public and may be taken individually over time or together to earn a certificate.

“We’ve assembled a roster of industry heavyweights to teach this season’s seminars, from leading practitioners at Burr Pilger Mayer and Moss Adams, to marketing legend Paul Wagner of Balzac Communications,” Ray Johnson, Executive Director of the Wine Business Institute said. “For industry professionals, these programs lead to insights on today’s toughest challenges. For newcomers to the industry, the exposure to wine-specific issues, as well as the credential, opens doors to key areas for success in the industry.”

Core seminar topics covered in the Certificate in Wine Industry Finance and Accounting include financial, managerial, and cost accounting for wineries, as well as financial strategies, budgeting, forecasting, and best practices. Core seminar issues addressed in the Certificate in Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) Wine Sales include e-commerce for wineries, building wine clubs and winery events, and tasting room sales and management. Elective seminar topics include Wine Marketing Basics, Tasting Room Management, Financial Planning and Strategy for Wine Businesses, Vineyard Taxation, and Winery Taxation, among other topics.

Cost of the Certificate in Direct-to-Consumer Wine Sales and Certificate in Wine Business Finance and Accounting is $150 per seminar for those who register by October 26.

The WBI is an education and research institute of the School of Business and Economics at SSU. Registration for wine business certificates and seminars is administered by the School of Extended and International Education.
