Acclaimed Winery Hosts Fall Release Celebration

Woodinville, WA, November 16, 2016: “I don’t have too many goals – I just try to keep working on each vintage. Each year is different. We have to get in there, taste the grapes and work the fermentations and the blending,” remarked Chris Upchurch, Executive Winemaker and Cofounder of DeLille Cellars of Washington State. “People think I’m a farmer, a scientist, an artist – but I’m really a craftsman who builds things.” Chris has been “building wine” at DeLille for 25 years now, having founded the winery in 1992 with Greg and Charles Lill and Jay Soloff. At that time, Washington had roughly 50 operating wineries and 5 tasting rooms in Woodinville. Today, there are over 900 wineries in Washington and over 140 wineries and tasting rooms in Woodinville.

“The wine industry in Washington has grown significantly, and it’s been great fun and very rewarding to be a part of that growth,” noted Greg Lill, CEO and Cofounder of DeLille Cellars. “Our focus on Bordeaux blends, our early commitment to the vineyards of Red Mountain, and our desire as a team to focus both on tradition as well as innovation has stood us in good stead and continues to motivate us every day.”

“Whether it’s D2, our signature red blend, our latest release of Chaleur Blanc, with its balanced mix of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, or any other one of our wines, we like to think we continue to express the unique terroir of Washington and to keep ‘delicious’ in the foreground,” continued Upchurch.

At the winery’s annual fall celebration at the DeLille Chateau in Woodinville, guests enjoyed several wines including 2015 Chaleur Blanc and 2014 D2 and Four Flags Cabernet Sauvignon. Throughout the coming months, both at the Carriage House Tasting Room in Woodinville and Maison DeLille Wine Lounge in Kirkland, DeLille will host flight programs, seasonal promotions and holiday tastings. On select Saturdays in December, Chris Upchurch will be on hand at the Carriage House. In 2017, DeLille will kick off its “Vine to Wine” dinner series, featuring its winemakers as well as partners in the vineyard.

About DeLille Cellars

DeLille Cellars is a boutique artisan winery in Woodinville, Washington. The winery was founded in 1992 by Charles and Greg Lill, Jay Soloff and celebrated winemaker Chris Upchurch. DeLille was the first Washington State winery to focus on creating Bordeaux-style blends, with its D2 and Chaleur Estate Rouge. From the outset, the winery looked towards the Red Mountain AVA as the foundation of its wines, using fruit from its own vineyards as well as from other top vineyards in the state.
Under the DeLille Cellars mark, DeLille produces a portfolio of Bordeaux-style wines: D2, Chaleur Estate Rouge, Harrison Hill, Four Flags and Chaleur Blanc, as well as a collection of Rhône-style selections. Under the Grand Ciel label, DeLille produces two estate vineyard wines: Grand Ciel Cabernet Sauvignon and Grand Ciel Syrah. Robert Parker Jr. of the Wine Advocate recognized DeLille Cellars as the “Lafite Rothschild’ of Washington State”.
DeLille Cellars is a Bacchus Capital portfolio company.
