May 9, 2017 – Dundee, OR – 15 years after launching his own winery, Winemaker Joe Dobbes has released his first Rosé under his Dobbes Family Estate label.  The single vineyard 2016 Rosé of Pinot Noir is sourced from nearby Quailhurst Vineyard, Chehalem Mountains AVA, a premier estate with whom Dobbes has exclusive access and has enjoyed a long relationship. This crisp and dry Rosé shows a rose quartz color and exhibits bright, wild strawberry and rhubarb aromas. It displays complex flavor of ripe red berry notes, citrus and elegant, but lively acid on the palate that makes for a balanced and refreshing wine.

“This was fun to make,” comments Joe Dobbes, President, Founder & Director of Winemaking & Viticulture of Dobbes Family Estate. “Although I have been sourcing from Quailhurst Vineyard for over 10 years, this is the first Rosé I’ve made from these vines – I don’t know why I waited!”

Over a decade ago, Dobbes initiated his Charitable Giving Program. “This community has given so much to me over the years, I am firmly committed to giving back. Our Charitable Giving Program was developed to allow everyone on the Dobbes Team the opportunity to support and showcase a deserving cause near and dear to their heart. Each quarter, one employee selects a charity that gets paired with a featured wine. The wine is promoted in the tasting room, emails, social media and our website with 10% of that wine’s proceeds donated to the selected charity.”

Employee Kari Mahe selected Susan G. Komen for 2017’s 2nd Quarter Charitable Beneficiary, in honor of her Grandmother who passed away from breast cancer in 2007.  “The inaugural Rosé of Pinot Noir is a perfect pairing with the Susan G. Komen organization. Grandma Darlene would have loved it’s light blush pink color and scent of bright, fresh strawberry. It’d make her happy knowing that sales from it are going to help others,” commented Mahe.

Through the end of June, with each Rosé purchase, 10% of the wine proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen organization, whose mission is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.

About Dobbes Family Estate

Oregon-bred and French-trained, Joe Dobbes has been artistically crafting highly acclaimed Oregon wines for over 30 years. A true Oregonian, Joe was raised in a small town in Willamette Valley and educated in Ashland. Yet his calling began outside Oregon, in Germany and France, where Joe first apprenticed with wine masters learning the art and science of winemaking.  Joe returned to Oregon and began applying his skills to crafting wine for several esteemed Oregon wineries before starting his own winery.  This year we celebrate the 15th year since Dobbes launched a multi-tiered winery in Dundee, Oregon; the heart of the Willamette Valley.

Recognized for the elegance and craft of his wines, Dobbes is now one of the largest producers in Oregon with 214 acres of estate vineyards.  While an industry leader in custom winemaking and bulk wine production, Dobbes’ focus is on crafting traditional Burgundian style wine under his three different brands: Dobbes Family Estate, the luxury Pinot Noir label; Wine by Joe, a value-priced Oregon appellation label, and Jovino, an offering available on-premise.
