Acquisition deepens company’s exploration into Sta. Rita Hills

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (May 18, 2017) – Jackson Family Wines today announced it has reached an agreement to acquire Brewer-Clifton Winery. Sourced entirely from estate vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, the winery’s highly-acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are noted for clearly articulating the region’s complexity and terroir. Founder and Winemaker Greg Brewer will remain at the helm, continuing to craft the wines with the same passion for expressing the voice of the Sta. Rita Hills.

“The Jackson family maintains a commitment to world-class wines, a respect for nature and vision for uncompromising quality that’s very much aligned with our philosophy,” said Brewer. “I’m confident our collective strengths will further propel the Sta. Rita Hills on the global stage of fine wines.” “I’ve long been impressed with the purity and intensity of these wines,” said Barbara Banke, chairman, Jackson Family Wines. “Brewer-Clifton strengthens our portfolio of singular, site-specific, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, while complementing our offerings from the nearby Santa Maria Valley.”

Brewer-Clifton was founded in 1996 by friends Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton with a vision for paying homage to the terroir-driven wines of France while forging a distinctly Californian style based on minimal intervention. Since 2012, the wines have been produced exclusively from Brewer-Clifton’s estate vineyards, which now includes 60 acres across four separate parcels within the AVA. The transaction, expected to close on Friday, May 19, also includes the Diatom brand, a crisp expression of Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay, as well as Brewer-Clifton’s leased winery, tasting room and vineyards. Financial terms are not available.
