Set to Donate Wine to Tuesday’s Children and Manhasset Coalition Against Breast Cancer. Events to benefit families impacted by terrorism and to raise money for breast cancer research, education & support programs

(New York, NY – September 13, 2017) Family-owned and operated Long Island winemakers, Maiden + Liberty, has added a new bottle to its catalogue presenting a 2016 Languedoc Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in stainless steel with oak chips and made from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and 15% Syrah grapes, the new addition joins M+L’s red and white French-American blends, along with their unoaked Long Island Chardonnay, and Languedoc Rosé. With intense dark fruit flavours of blackberry and blackcurrant with a note of violet, the wine produces a unique combination of flavour intensity and freshness – typical of the altitude at which it was grown on the hills north of Montpellier, France. The bottles retail between $15 and $25 and are also available in select retail locations throughout the Tri-State area, and included in restaurant/bar wine lists from White Plains to Manhasset. In addition to increasing its catalogue, Maiden + Liberty has continued to grow its presence in the Long Island and New York City wine community. Along with participating in several tasting events throughout the fall, M+L has been continuing its philanthropic efforts and will be donating wine to Tuesday’s Children auction for their Rise Up Downtown Gala taking place on Thursday, September 14th. The annual event raises money to support families impacted by terrorism and traumatic loss worldwide. It will also be donating a case of wine for the auction at the Manhasset Coalition Against Breast Cancer Ladies Night Out event being held on Wednesday, October 18th. The MWCABC is an all-volunteer, charitable organization founded to raise money for breast cancer research, education and support programs.  To date, they have donated over 4 million dollars to support innovative research and education programs and have touched countless lives with their Outreach services. For a full list of events visit here.

Since its foundation in 2015, Maiden + Liberty’s strict attention to detail, and deep respect for the personality of each grape, has helped it become a staple in the Long Island wine community. A family-run company, initially established by James and Alexandra Medwick, the couple met in 2006 and shortly after marrying in 2009, the two began experimenting to see if the wines from each of their homelands could complement each other and bring forth a wine greater than the sum of its parts. It did, and their unique French-American blends were born.  Originally hailing from Manhasset, Long Island, James operates as the winery’s Master Blender, while Alexandra – who was raised in Pezenas, France near the city of Montpellier in the Languedoc region – acts as the Head of Business Development. Soon after establishing Maiden + Liberty, James and Alexandra brought on James’ father Craig Medwick as Senior Advisor and his sister Julia Maimone-Medwick as the brand’s Director of Marketing and Sales, truly making it a family affair. Other members of the Medwick family have and continue to be an integral part of the company involved in all aspects of the business, offering their own unique perspectives and ideas.

Maiden + Liberty continues to craft uniquely satisfying and masterful wines, and the company will continue expanding its outreach and distribution throughout 2017 and beyond.
