Enjoy deals throughout the month of August, including free and discounted Uber rides to tasting rooms

Washington Wine MonthSEATTLE (August 1, 2016) – Raise your glass, because Washington State Wine Month has arrived. All throughout the month of August, consumers can enjoy great deals and promotions at participating retailers, hotels and restaurants around the country and tasting rooms across the state.

New this year, Washington State Wine is launching a partnership with Uber. In an effort to encourage consumers to get out and experience Washington State wine in the greater Seattle area, Uber will offer discounted rides to and from Seattle’s urban wineries and Woodinville’s tasting districts every Saturday in August. Users will also be able to travel for free within the Woodinville and Georgetown/SoDo tasting districts just by opening the Uber app while in these areas and selecting the WSW option at the bottom of the app. More information on the partnership can be found at t.uber.com/wsw. The program is part of a broader Uber effort to support local communities and keep people safe on the road.

“The Uber partnership is really exciting for us,” said Steve Warner, President of Washington State Wine. “We hope it encourages people to get out and visit local tasting rooms – in an easy, safe way.”

The live Tagboard site, www.WaWineMonth.com, follows the hashtag #WaWineMonth and tracks offers, highlights promotions, and honors the award-winning wine of Washington State and the partners who make it such a dynamic, exciting industry. All participating wineries and retailers are encouraged to use the hashtag to promote their specials, and all consumers are encouraged to use it to share their Washington State wine experiences.

“Washington State Wine Month is a time to celebrate our state’s world class wine industry,” Warner said. “Although we have more than 900 wineries in the state now, we’re so proud of the collaborative nature that our wine grape growers and winemakers embody every single day. We hope old friends and new fans alike will raise a glass of Washington State wine this August to toast to our amazing wine community.”
