In addition to featuring gold medal-winning wines, the event will host an impressive group of Wine Country chefs, all-day entertainment and educational talks in the art-inspired gardens at Cornerstone Sonoma. This is your opportunity to taste more than 90 exceptional wines from California’s premier wine country regions.

The list of top local chefs includes: Dustin Valette (Valette), Duskie Estes (Zazu Kitchen + Farm), Mathew Williams & Moishe Hahn-Schuman (Ramen Gaijin Restaurant), John Toulze (The Girl and the Fig), Ari Weiswasser (Glen Ellen Star), Daniel Kedan (Backyard Forestville), Liza Hinman (The Spinster Sisters), Crista Luedtke (Boon Eat + Drink),  Scott Romano (Dry Creek Kitchen), Armando Garcia (El Dorado Kitchen), Rob Larman (Cochon Volant BBQ Smoke House), Jeffrey Jake (Silverado Resort and Spa), Natalie Goble (Handline), Perry Hoffman (SHED), Joe Zobel (Peter Lowell’s) and Hog Island Oyster Co.

Special guest appearances by John Ash and Clark Wolf.

About the North Coast Wine Challenge Wine Competition

The Press Democrat North Coast Wine Challenge Competition will take place on April 11-12. The competition rates wines exclusively produced and bottled in the North Coast AVAs (Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Sonoma, Marin and parts of Solano Counties). Wines will be designated the Best of Class by Category, Best of County, and ultimately the Best of the Best as top award.

Only Gold Medals and above are awarded.  Last year there was more than 1,047 entries, of which 174 were awarded gold medals, and 100 wineries. Only gold medal wines that score 90 and above are invited to the event in June. The competition includes Luxury Class, for wines retailing at over $75. Judging panels will be comprised of qualified members of wine media, wine buyers, sommeliers, winemakers, and wine educators. Majority will rule in reaching a consensus. The 2016 private judging will take place on April 11 and 12 and is not open to the public.
