Opulence and elegance born from Sebastiani family owned Watmaugh Ranch

Sonoma, California — June 6, 2017 Don Sebastiani & Sons, the Sonoma-based, family-owned producer of award-winning wines, spirits, and food products, today introduces its 2015 Don & Sons “Watmaugh Ranch” Chardonnay, a single-vineyard wine from the Sonoma Valley AVA.

This 100% Chardonnay is made from the Hyde-Wente clone—native to Sonoma—and offers aromas of toasted French baguette, blanched almond and Asian pear with flavors of vanilla pie crust, flaky pastry, and hints of hazelnut. The winemaking process included malolactic fermentation and “batonnage” (hand-stirring the wine on its lees), which together yield a silky mid-palate with a refreshing minerality and creamy texture.

Watmaugh Ranch, owned by the Sebastiani family for over forty years is located in the cool, breezy, southernmost part of Sonoma valley bordering Carneros, nestled neatly between two mountain ranges: the Mayacamas Mountains to the east, and the Sonoma Mountains to the west.

“Three generations of our family have made wine from grapes grown on Watmaugh Ranch, and it continues to be a standout among all the Chardonnays we produce,” said Donny Sebastiani, President and CEO of Don Sebastiani & Sons, and a member of the family’s fourth generation of Sonoma County winemakers. “Our goal is to produce wines that make everyday moments memorable, and this Chardonnay more than fulfills that vision.”

A similarly sourced bottling of the winery’s prized Watmaugh Ranch Chardonnay, combining fruit from different lots to express unique characteristics of the soil, recently earned high acclaim at the Sonoma County Vintners Barrel Auction.

At a suggested retail price of $49.99, the 2015 Watmaugh Ranch Chardonnay is available at fine wine retailers and select restaurants nationwide and fits comfortably within the Sebastiani family’s vision of creating “Happy Hour at Home” opportunities. Recently, Don Sebastiani & Sons has introduced product lines complementary to its core wine portfolio, including premium, seasoned nuts; organic, flavored sparkling water; and three 100% Blue Weber agave Tequilas grown and hand-made in Jalisco, Mexico.
