Hahn Carmel is Second Tasting Room Location for this Monterey County Wine Pioneer

Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif. — September 14, 2017 — Hahn Family Wines celebrates the opening of the Hahn Carmel tasting lounge in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Since 1980, the Hahn family has produced wines at its estate located in Monterey County’s highly-regarded Santa Lucia Highland AVA. Now the Hahn Carmel tasting lounge, set in the popular but quaint pedestrian corridor known as Carmel Plaza, features luxury and exclusive wines previously found only at Hahn Estate in Soledad.

The warm, inviting tasting lounge offers unforgettable tasting experiences where guests are guided by a personal host on an educational journey that explores the wines, the winemaking process and the region in which the wines are made.

Hahn Family Wines worked with local architectural firm, Belli Architectural Group, and interior design team, Wilson-Ishihara, to ensure the new lounge captured the feel of California’s Central Coast lifestyle. The lounge features natural elements—such as polished stone, elegant hardwoods and red wood paneling reclaimed from an old water tank formerly used at the winery—to add depth and texture.

“Many thanks to our local wine club members and Carmel neighbors who supported our efforts over the years to open a second tasting room. The lounge is open!” said Tony Baldini, president of Hahn Family Wines. “The tasting lounge captures the sweeping beauty of Hahn Estate in the Santa Lucia Highlands and all of our delicious wines, with a particular focus on exclusive and hard-to-find wines from Monterey County.”

“We welcome Hahn to Carmel-by-the-Sea in their Carmel Plaza location. They join our bustling community of notable Monterey County wineries, upscale retailers and artisan shops,” said Mayor Steve Dallas. “The presence of notable Monterey County wineries is a vital part of Carmel’s tourism industry, and I have no doubt Hahn will quickly become a favorite of visitors and locals alike.”

The Santa Lucia Highlands (SLH) American Viticultural Area, located in Monterey County about 20 miles inland from the Pacific Coast, is home to Hahn Estate. The Hahn SLH brand helped put the SLH AVA on the map. Last December, the 2014 Hahn SLH Pinot Noir—Hahn’s flagship luxury Pinot Noir from the Santa Lucia Highlands—was named to the Wine Spectator “Top 100” list.

In addition to their flagship Hahn SLH Pinot Noir, guests can enjoy varietal wines available only at the tasting room or winery such as Chardonnay, Syrah, Grenache and Pinot Gris from their SLH estate vineyards. Special selections from Hahn’s Lucienne brand—the winery’s single-vineyard Pinot Noir program—will also be available. The 2014 Lucienne wines earned nearly a dozen 90-plus point scores from top wine reviewers for Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate and Vinous.

About Hahn Family Wines

Hahn Family Wines is a family-owned winery located in the Santa Lucia Highlands (SLH) appellation of Monterey County, California. Founders Nicolaus (Nicky) and Gaby Hahn purchased land in Monterey County in the late 1970s and have made wine in SLH for more than 35 years (since 1980). Early on, Nicky Hahn saw the wine grape growing potential of SLH, and in 1988, spearheaded efforts to establish SLH as an American Viticulture Area. Today, Hahn Family Wines owns one of the largest shares of planted vines in the region, equaling more than 650 SLH vineyard acres that range in elevation from 200 to 1,200 feet. The vineyards offer a diverse selection of terroir for growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and other grape varieties. The brands of Hahn Family Wines include Hahn SLH, Hahn, Lucienne, Smith & Hook and Boneshaker.
