To celebrate the holiday season, all on and off-premise trade partners selling Rioja wine are invited to enter the region’s first ever online contest on RiojaTrade.com

NEW YORK, NY (October 2, 2017) – Today, Rioja USA has announced an exciting new, national holiday contest through its recently developed tool for the beverage trade industry, www.RiojaTrade.com. As Rioja’s first major initiative on the trade portal, the contest is a engaging and easy way to stimulate Trade community involvement with the fine and profitable wines of Rioja.

The holiday contest was designed to incentivize and reward those who participate in the campaign with an inspiring competition, while continuing to disseminate Rioja’s exclusive informational resource developed for the wine industry.

The holiday contest puts the entire trade industry on an even playing field. Regardless of the account’s size and location, trade partners gain points for their proactivity. This is the first time Rioja has conducted a national trade contest of this kind.

“In just a few short months, we have already seen fantastic results on the new Rioja trade portal. We want to keep the momentum going with a fresh way for the trade to interact with us,” said Ana Fabiano, North American Trade Director for Rioja USA. “The holiday contest will showcase a new engagement feature on the portal that we are using to maximize the connections we have with our trade partners, and establish new ones doing exciting work with Rioja we have yet to learn about.  Our team is enthusiastic about these opportunities.”

From now until December 8th, both on premise and off-premise trade nationwide must complete four simple steps to officially enter the contest and qualify to win (complete contest rules provided in each link above). Be sure to tag @RiojaWine and include the hashtag #RiojaCheers!

This campaign is designed to enhance trade partners’ year-end programming and support a growing category (Rioja), which has a strong trade program, and consumer following and interest.

To increase chances of winning, any or all of the activities listed under their respective “HOW TO WIN” sections must be completed – the more active and engaged partners are, the better they will fare.

First-place winners (one off-premise and one on premise) will receive a two-night getaway for two to an Omni Hotel & Resort of their choice in the USA. Second-place winners will receive a $1,000 Visa gift card and third-place winners will receive a $500 Visa gift card. All competitors will be recognized on the Rioja trade portal.

About the Rioja Consejo Regulador

The Rioja “Control Board” is an institution founded in 1925 with a primary purpose to supervise quality control from vineyard through bottling to promoting the region and defending the interests of the region´s wine sector. The quality controls systems in Rioja are one of the most stringent in the world of wine. Rioja is one of the few that requires that all of its production be bottled at source and is the hallmark region for tradition, trust and quality that has equipped Rioja to attain its current leading position on the market.

Located in north central Spain, Rioja is considered one of the greatest red wine regions in the world. Rioja wines are protected by the oldest Designation of Origin in Spain, officially recognized in 1925. Since 1991, it is the first and one of only two regions in Spain to be awarded the highest category – Calificada where all wines must be bottled at origin.  The institution administers highly sophisticated and stringent quality control in the vineyard and winemaking, from viticulture to bottling – more than 63,500 hectares (approximately 140,850 acres) – yielding 300 million liters of wine annually, of which 90% is red.
