SANTA ROSA, CA–In response to the devastating fires throughout Northern California, Russian River Valley Winegrowers (RRVW) will host their signature wine event, Single Vineyard Night at Fort Mason, where all proceeds will be dedicated to raising funds for fire relief and rebuilding efforts in Sonoma County.

Wendy Hilberman, Executive Director of the Russian River Valley Winegrowers commented, “Tragedies have the power to bring out the greatest in people and we have seen and heard countless stories of selfless generosity and courage emerge from this heartbreak. If there is a silver lining it is that we have banded together as a community to support one another like no other time in our County’s history.”

A growing list of Russian River Valley’s most coveted producers will participate in the event, taking place Thursday, November 9th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the General’s Residence at Fort Mason. So far, more than thirty vintners have signed on to pour their wines in support of the cause.

RRVW’s Single Vineyards Night will provide guests with the extraordinary opportunity to meet Russian River Valley winery owners and winemakers and taste small-lot wines from the region’s most distinguished land parcels. Now in its ninth year, this elegant evening of wine and food will feature the appellation’s iconic Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc wines, paired with an array of passed hors d’oeuvres and wine-friendly street tacos. A limited number of VIP tickets for the event are available, providing early access starting at 5:30pm, and the opportunity to taste rare and exclusive limited-release wines.

Single Vineyards Night is planned in collaboration with Guardsmen Event Leaders. Reflecting on the decision to host the event, Adam Echter commented, “Without question, our team is unanimous in our support.” He continued, “Our region needs to heal, and we are doing it the very best way we know how–with wine, food, friends, and community.”

RRVW Board President and winemaker Giovanni Balistreri added that, “Given the recent wildfires in Sonoma County, RRVW has received overwhelming support from our members for hosting this incredible event.” Describing impacts of the fires on the wine industry, he said, “Growers and vintners in Sonoma are very community focused, and incredibly resilient. Our wineries are open for business, and we are working side-by-side to rebuild. This event is a first step, and together we stand ‘Sonoma County Strong’.”

The Russian River Valley was very fortunate to avoid the fires and remains to be a safe place to visit. RRVW invites guests to join them in supporting the recovery of Sonoma County and encourages them to continue to support the businesses in all areas affected by the fires. The support is essential to the sustainability of local business going forward and a primary way to help the affected areas.
