Rohnert Park, California – The Wine Business Institute (WBI) at Sonoma State University (SSU) today announced that wine and craft beer industry veteran, Heather Conlin, will teach the Spring 2018 online certificate program in Wine Business Management beginning Thursday, January 18, 2018. Prior to her leadership positions in the wine industry, she served as resource and marketing manager for Alaskan Brewing Company in Juneau. The four-week program is the first of three course levels that make up the certificate in Wine Business Management, with training in wine commerce and trade, marketing and sales, finance and accounting, viticulture and winemaking, e-commerce, and regulation.

“Heather’s experience aligns with the demands of the program, both for newcomers looking to fulfill the industry experience requirement for the specialized MBA, and for industry veterans seeking a refresher for networking and skills development,” Ray Johnson, Executive Director of the Wine Business Institute said. “Her strong experience gives students extraordinary insight to running a competitive wine business in a global environment.”

Heather Conlin previously taught at University of Alaska Southeast and worked as a research pharmacologist and pharmacy technician. She holds a Certificate in Enology and Viticulture from the University of California, Davis, and certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources. She also holds an MBA from University of Phoenix and a BS in Pharmacological Chemistry from the University of Utah. She is the latest professional faculty member to join WBI, and complements a roster of expert instructors of the flagship online program, including Geralyn Brostrom, former Vice President of Wine Education at The Winebow Group and Managing Director at Vindeavour; Patrick Baker, Sales Director at Vintrace; Ron Scharman, CEO at Astra Digital Marketing Services, and Rob Izzo, General Manager at Eco Terreno Wines.

Preferred pricing for the online program in Wine Business Management ends on Monday, January 8.
