Napa Valley Grapegrowers Lend Support to Ventura County Agricultural Community During the Fires

Napa, CA (December 6, 2017) – Recognizing the fear and displacement that so many Napa County landowners and residents experienced just 2 months ago, Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG) today extended a helping hand to its fellow farmers in Ventura County, who are currently battling the uncontained and growing Thomas, Creek, Rye, and Skirball fires.  NVG sent N95 masks and new clothes, as well as the NVG Fire Resources Guide (in English and in Spanish) to our sister agricultural and winery organizations within Ventura County’s agricultural community.   NVG will continue to communicate with those in Ventura County and monitor what is needed to support our fellow Californians as they deal with the challenges of: ensuring worker safety; protection for agricultural assets and wild lands during these catastrophic wildfires.

“The images and stories coming out of Ventura County are heart-breaking, and having just gone through this, we knew that what was needed right away was protective masks and other everyday items.  As the disaster develops, we hope to provide support, perhaps in the form of lessons learned and also proactive erosion control, to landowners in Ventura.  We strongly believe that #NapaStrong means helping”.
