Premiere Napa Valley event sold out, but online bidding opens February 23

2/8/2018St. Helena, CA–The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) nonprofit association announces 31 of the lots featured at this year’s Premiere Napa Valley barrel tasting and futures auction will be offered exclusively online to pre-registered licensees anywhere in the world. Bidding for the Premiere Napa Valley Online Auction opens Friday, February 23 at 9 a.m. PST and closes Saturday, February 24 at noon PST.

Produced by NVV-member winemakers in quantities as small as 60 and never more than 240 bottles, the Premiere Napa Valley portfolio showcases some of Napa Valley’s rarest and highest quality wines. These 31 online lots are in addition to 187 lots going on the auction block at the sold-out event taking place at The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone on February 24.

“Within every bottle of Premiere Napa Valley wine is a special story,” said Jeff Smith, founder and CEO of Hourglass and 2018 Premiere Napa Valley steering committee chair. “When a wine merchant acquires one of these unique lots, they become the sole proprietor of that wine. Differentiation has become critical to today’s business success. Premiere Napa Valley presents a unique opportunity for our friends in the trade to set themselves apart from their competitors by becoming the sole purveyor of that wine.”

Premiere Napa Valley bidding is open only to licensed members of the wine trade who buy these coveted Napa Valley wines for their top customers and discerning wine collectors. Retailers, restaurateurs, hoteliers, club managers and wholesalers vie for wines that are created for this one occasion, never to be replicated. Each bottle of Premiere Napa Valley wine is hand-labeled, individually-numbered and signed by the winemaker, creating additional cachet to the collectability of these distinctive wines.

For members of the trade not able to attend the sold-out Premiere Napa Valley event, electronic bidding will be open to pre-registered licensees from Friday, February 23 at 9 a.m. PST through Saturday, February 24 at noon PST. The deadline for wine trade to register for online bidding is February 23 at 5 p.m. PST.
