State Shipping Laws for Wineries Provides Improved Access & Current Compliance Information
SAN FRANCISCO — Wine Institute and Compli have collaborated to create a new and improved direct-to-consumer (DTC) website, State Shipping Laws for Wineries, that offers the California wine industry a comprehensive resource on all state shipping compliance rules consolidated into a single place. The new website is available to all wineries at: https://wineinstitute.compliancerules.org/.
“The goal of the site is to provide wineries with a tool to navigate DTC shipping laws. We want to make it possible and easier for wineries to maintain compliance because the entire wine community benefits when everyone understands the law. Compliance with existing rules also supports our efforts to make positive changes to the DTC laws and regulations,” said Steve Gross, VP, State Relations, Wine Institute.
“Wine Institute helped create the first DTC agreements over three decades ago and has led the effort to pass DTC laws in 45 states and the District of Columbia. We are thrilled to combine our expertise in DTC, wholesale and federal compliance with Wine Institute’s legislative experience to make the wine business stronger,” said Rachel Dumas Rey, President, Compli.
With the unprecedented success of the DTC channel, there has been an evolution of the rules and in technology. To meet these demands and better support wineries, the new site is:
- Mobile-optimized to provide easy access to information from any device, anywhere, at any time.
- Restructured to make the information more user-friendly and align with current rules and regulations.
- Regularly updated to provide the latest news on the DTC industry and state regulations.
In the coming months, Wine Institute and Compli will be launching a broader Wine Compliance Rules site for Wine Institute members that will feature resources for the wholesale channel that have not been available previously. Wholesale rules, documents and forms will be aggregated and made available to Wine Institute members through this members-only portal.
