First Introducing a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, the Biodynamic Pioneer Continues Longstanding Tradition of Sustainable Farming with New Wines
Glen Ellen, Calif. – April 10, 2018 – Benziger Family Winery today announced the launch of the Benziger Organic Reserve Wine tier, a selection of wines made with grapes from organically farmed vineyards in premiere California appellations. The first wine available from this new tier is a 2016 Reserve Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley. Benziger Family Winery will add a Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon in 2019.
All wines in the new Benziger Organic Reserve Wine tier are made with grapes grown by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), which requires that winegrowers use natural methods such as crop rotation and natural composts to maintain soil health, as well as natural techniques to control weeds, insects and other pests.
“We have experienced first-hand the difference that growing grapes using certified organic methods makes,” says Chris Benziger, Vice President of Trade Relations. “We’re not only doing the right thing for the land, but we’re creating high quality wines that reveal the true nature of the vineyards where the grapes were grown.”
