Maker of America’s Favorite Chardonnay Invites Wine Producers and Wine Lovers Around the World to Show Support for New Emoji

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (Aug. 1, 2018) – The winery that changed the way Americans consume wine wants to change the way the world communicates about wine. Kendall-Jackson is excited to announce its efforts to generate support for the creation of the White Wine Emoji and is asking the global wine community and white wine lovers to join.

Kendall-Jackson has submitted a proposal for the creation of a White Wine Emoji to the Unicode Consortium, the non-profit corporation devoted to creating a universal coding standard for the world’s languages. Kendall-Jackson’s proposal was selected for review by the Unicode Technical Committee (UTC), who will vote to bring the White Wine Emoji into development in spring 2019.

For more than 35 years, Kendall-Jackson has been a leading producer of white wine. The winery’s Vintner’s Reserve Chardonnay has been the number one selling white wine in America for more than 25 years.

“For years, Kendall-Jackson consumers and Chardonnay fans have been reaching out to us and asking ‘where is the white wine emoji,’” said Maggie Curry, Director of Marketing for Kendall-Jackson Winery. “This is our chance to do something about it, not just for our fans, but for the global wine community at large.”

Starting on National White Wine Day on Aug. 4, Kendall-Jackson is inviting the world to join in a “digital cheers.” The winery has developed White Wine Emoji digital “Wanted Posters” in multiple languages available for download at whitewineemoji.net. White wine lovers are encouraged to utilize hashtag #WhiteWineEmoji and share the Wanted Poster across digital platforms to show just how wanted this emoji is world-wide. Two notable California wineries, Fetzer and Flora Springs, have already partnered with Kendall-Jackson to help get the viral conversation started. Kendall-Jackson looks forward to building on this initial momentum with the support of the broader wine community.
