Wine Women Hosts “Is That Wine Corked? Learn About Wine Faults,” on August 14th

WINE WOMEN hosts, “Is That Wine Corked? Learn About Wine Faults,” on August 14th at DeLoach Vineyards in Santa Rosa at 6 p.m. Led by Debra Del Fiorentino, founder and president of Wine Competitions Management and Productions, and Bob Peak, owner of Peak Fermentation Consulting, they will provide a guided tasting of several common wine faults. Seminar guests will learn how to identify several wine faults from aroma and taste. Guests will also taste beautiful, un-faulted wines to celebrate their newfound knowledge.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Although wine faults are relatively rare, it can be difficult for the untrained palate to identify what, or if, something is wrong with a wine. Attendees will be guided through several faulted wines after beginning the evening with a well-made welcome glass of wine.

No fine wines will be harmed in the creation of this seminar. Faulted wines will be manufactured for attendees to swirl, sniff, sip and (undoubtedly) spit. For an eye-opening, olfactory-educating evening of wines you’ll definitely hope to avoid in the future, join WINE WOMEN for this illuminating event.

At the end of the evening, guests will celebrate and cleanse their palates with a non-faulted, beautifully made wine!

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS

WINE WOMEN Member Debra Del Fiorentino is a Sommelier, CWP, CSW, founder and president of Wine Competitions Management and Productions. In addition to judging wine competitions for more than 20 years, Debra is also a vineyard owner and the founder of SPIRITED, a magazine devoted to the beer, wine, spirits and cider industry. Most recently Debra served as Chief Judge for the International Women’s Wine Competition.

Bob Peak is owner of Peak Fermentation Consulting. Bob retired from The Beverage People in February, 2017. He still writes the Techniques column for WineMaker Magazine and is now the Technical Editor for them as well. He is also still making wine, beer, cider, cheese, and charcuterie; and occasionally teaching or consulting on fermentation. He was the former General Manager at Vinquiry, a company that provides analytical services to the wine industry. In his blog, “Bob’s World of Wine,” Bob wrote about anything wine-related that came to mind — from his own home winemaking adventures, topics that come across his desk at work, and commercial wine events that intersect with home winemaking.
