Into its fourth year, Sonoma County Wine Month shines the spotlight on the region and its world-class wines

Sonoma County VintnersSANTA ROSA, CA (August 21, 2018) – In celebration of Sonoma County’s world-class wines that span the region’s 18 diverse appellations, Sonoma County Vintners is proud to announce October as Sonoma County Wine Month. Into its fourth year, participating wineries will offer special promotions throughout the month of October to visitors, including two-for-one tastings, opportunities to taste rare wines, and special experiences that are typically reserved for members only.

“Fall is a beautiful time to visit Sonoma County. Harvest is at its peak, and there’s a special feeling of accomplishment in the air, making October one of the best times to come for exploration,” said Michael Haney, executive director of Sonoma County Vintners.

Home to 425 wineries, Sonoma County’s diverse climate allows for 60 varieties of grapes to successfully grow in 18 American Viticultural Areas (AVA)—from the sweeping oceanside landscape of Sonoma Coast to the cooler, fog covered valley floors of Carneros. Master Sommelier, Keith Goldston noted this diversity, explaining “Sonoma County is an incredible spot to make many different styles of wines—it’s almost like a whole country in one county.”
