Since 1985, Alex Guarachi’s forward-thinking vision has been to passionately introduce South American wines to the U.S. market. He established himself as a Chilean wine visionary by helping make Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon and Argentine Malbec household names. Guarachi’s Chilean upbringing and deep roots in the wine industry have allowed South American wines to flourish in the U.S. by creating a new market for consumers that was once considered niche but is now mainstream. In 2007, Guarachi founded Guarachi Family Wines, his own label of extremely limited bottlings sourced from micro-lots within Estate vineyards from the most prestigious appellations– Petaluma Gap, Sonoma Coast and Napa Valley. In 2010, Wine Enthusiast honored Guarachi as Importer of the Year, a testament to his hard work and dedication to changing the industry. Guarachi’s passion for identifying wine trends, 33+ years of global importing and marketing of wines merged with a decade of boutique winemaking for Guarachi Family Wines lead to the creation of a new South American luxury brand division, as the next evolution of Chilean wines for the U.S. consumer.
Guarachi Wine Partners’ current lineup of South American wines is well represented in Chile and Argentina with heritage brands such as Bodega Norton, Santa Ema, Kaiken, and King Malbec. Chile is the seventh largest country of origin for wine imports to the U.S., known for its quality and reasonable prices, and therefore great value as it relates to consumers.
