St. Helena, California (September 16, 2018) – Vineyard 29 announces that Keith Emerson has taken on sole responsibility of all sourcing and winemaking. Being part of the executive team with Vineyard 29 for the past 13 years, Keith brings the knowledge, expertise and passion for the winery, estate vineyards and second label Cru, making it a seamless and natural transition.

“I am so pleased to have Keith progress to this very important roll,” says Chuck McMinn, Vineyard 29’s owner. “He has a proven track record of being one the finest winemakers crafting some of the greatest wines in the Napa Valley. I’m confident he will continue the culture and standards of winemaking excellence we’ve held, and he’s helped establish, here at our St. Helena estate winery.”

Keith will continue to oversee all aspects of sourcing and winemaking for the renowned luxury brand and winery, working closely with McMinn and a very experienced team to further realize the winery’s vision towards being one of the most sought-after wine brands in the Napa Valley.

“I am very thankful to Chuck and Anne for offering me the opportunity to make wine at the highest level for so many years. Also, I particularly would like to thank Philippe Melka, my friend and mentor who I was fortunate enough to work with and learn from for over 13 years at Vineyard 29.”

Keith obtained his Enology and Viticulture degree from the University of California at Davis in 1999.  After a year at Cakebread Cellars, he accepted an enologist position with Sonoma’s historical Gundlach Bundschu Winery.  Emerson quickly excelled to assistant winemaker, soon after was named associate winemaker and became solely responsible for Gundlach Bundschu’s second label, Block 13. The Block 13 program enabled Emerson to cultivate his own personal style of wine and gave him valuable experience in developing a wine brand from the ground up.

In March 2004, Emerson traveled to Martinborough, New Zealand to work for Palliser Estate Wines.  For him, the experience of working a vintage in the southern hemisphere was remarkable.  In 2005 Emerson continued to raise the bar when he and his colleague, Brian Brown, began work on their very own artisan label, Emerson Brown.

Today, Emerson also makes wine for Gundlach Bundschu Winery, Robert Craig Winery, Knighton Family Vineyards, Sang-Froid Vineyards, Vinoce Vineyards, Vineyard 36, Labry Vineyards and Martin Ray Winery.  In 2009, Emerson launched his Shea Vineyard Oregon Pinot Noir brand, Sonrίa, which he hand-crafts at Vineyard 29’s state of the art facility.
