New York, September 20, 2018 – The Trade Commission of Spain in New York and Wines from Spain will host the 25th annual Spain’s Great Match, the largest comprehensive Spanish wine and food event in the U.S, on Wednesday, October 4 at New York’s iconic IAC HQ Building. A second event will be held in Los Angeles on November 8. This collaborative extravaganza with Wines from Spain, Foods from Spain and Interiors from Spain celebrates the distinctive wines, food and culture of Spain. Over 300 wines representing the varieties and wine regions of Spain will be featured in a walk-around tasting format. Importers and distributors of Spanish wines will present their best products, including new wines and the latest vintages, to wine industry professionals and consumers.

To kick off the day’s festivities, select members of the wine media and trade will be invited to attend a panel discussion, “A Tribute to 25 Years of Spain’s Great Match”, moderated by noted wine educator Steve Olson, and joined by Spanish wine veterans Michael Schachner of Wine Enthusiast, Steve Metzler of Classical Wines, and Jordi Paronella of Jaleo and Think Food Group. All will share their experience with Spanish wines and look back at certain milestone events over the last 25 years. Additional tutored seminars focusing on wines from Navarra, Castilla y Leon, and the Canary Islands will also be held later in the afternoon. In the evening, Spain’s Great Match will open to the public for a ticketed lifestyle event which will feature over 30 wine stations and tapas prepared by special guest chefs from Spain as well as New York City’s top Spanish restaurants and tapas bars.
