November 15, 2018, Dayton, OR – The Stoller Wine Group has promoted Katie Santora to winemaker for Chehalem Winery. In a year of changes for the brand, Katie’s seven-year tenure gives her an understanding of Chehalem’s vineyard sites, and winemaking style, which made her perfect for the position.

“We love to foster the growth of our employees and promote from within our organization whenever possible,” said Bill Stoller, owner and founder of the Stoller Wine Group. “Katie’s leadership throughout the 2018 vintage made it clear to our team that she was ready and excited to take the reins as winemaker.”

“Katie is extremely dedicated to the wines, vineyards and brand,” said Melissa Burr, vice president of winemaking. She is extremely hard working, smart, and passionate. We are thrilled to promote her to head winemaker for the brand and are excited for its future under her guidance.”

Katie, a Utah native, fell in love with wine while attending UC Davis. After completing her enology and viticulture degree, she set out to travel the world and make wine along the way. Ultimately, Oregon, with its exceptional wines and endless outdoor adventures, called to Katie as “home.” She joined Chehalem in 2012 as assistant winemaker and was promoted to associate winemaker in 2016.

“I am humbled by this opportunity to continue the legacy that Chehalem has acquired over the years,” said Katie. “I am excited to continue making smart, structured, long lasting, delicious wines, and follow the small lineage of Chehalem winemakers that I have come to admire.”
