Prestigious Awards Program Honors World’s Best Restaurants for Wine

–‘Early-Bird’ Deadline Dec. 31; Final Deadline Feb. 1–

New York, NY (December 13, 2018)—Attention, restaurateurs and sommeliers! Applications for Wine Spectator magazine’s 2019 Restaurant Awards, which recognizes the world’s best wine lists are now open, with a deadline of February 1.

Developed in 1981, the Restaurant Awards program brings restaurants with outstanding wine programs to the attention of diners who care as much about what they drink as what they eat. There are three award levels:

The Award of Excellence recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.

The Best of Award of Excellence recognizes restaurants that offer more extensive selections with significant vintage depth and excellent breadth across multiple regions.

The Grand Award is the program’s highest honor. This elite group comprises the world’s best wine programs, which deliver serious breadth of top producers, outstanding depth in mature vintages, a selection of large-format bottles, excellent harmony with the menu and superior presentation. Previous winners include world-class restaurants La Tour D’Argent in Paris, Eleven Madison Park in New York City, and Spago in Los Angeles.

All winners will be profiled at Restaurants.WineSpectator.com and in the Restaurant Awards app. The app, available free on the App store, allows iPhone and iPad users to easily find nearby award-winning restaurants.

In addition, Wine Spectator works with the award-winning restaurants to publicize their award in local and national media, and then all winners are emailed a media coverage report detailing all coverage of the Restaurant Award winners. Last year’s efforts amassed an estimated audience of 309 million. Further, all award winners receive a customized certificate and digital logos to display and promote their award.

To apply, visit Restaurants.WineSpectator.com. Applications submitted by December 31 will benefit from a reduced “early-bird” entry fee.
