Santa Rosa, Calif., (December 31, 2018) Wineries may now enter the 2019 “East Meets West” Wine Challenge, owned and operated by Wine Competitions Management & Productions. The judging will take place in Sonoma County on February 5-6, 2019. Those who register by January 11 will enjoy a $5 dollar savings per entry and all entrants save an additional $5 an entry when doing so online.

Comprised of three different judgings, “East Meets West” challenges the winners from the International Eastern Wine Competition against their counterparts from the West Coast Wine Competition in a taste-off to determine which wine rates best overall.

Since 1982, the West Coast Wine Competition (WCWC) has annually recognized wines produced and bottled in the West. The International Eastern Wine Competition (IEWC), launched in 1975, is one of the oldest and longest running wine competitions in the nation.

Both competitions run concurrently. The Best of Show wines from the IEWC compete head-to-head with the Best of Show wines from the WCWC. Traditional awards are given in each division. This format affords each entrant two chances to win; one in its own competition and one in the taste-off for wines advancing to the top level. A Riesling Challenge will also be held for the entrants in the East Coast division.

According to event owner, Debra Del Fiorentino, “Each year, entrants look forward to this friendly contest of regional wines. This spin keeps it fresh and lively for everyone involved. Last year’s top award went to Holy-Field Vineyard & Winery for its Amitié Traminette, NV, Estate, Kansas. I’m excited to see what wine will take the top honor this year.”
