Philippe Melka Names Director of Winemaking Maayan Koschitzky as Partner

(St. Helena, Calif.)—February 20, 2019—Philippe Melka, founder of Atelier Melka, today announced that he has added Atelier Melka’s Director of Winemaking Maayan Koschitzky as a partner in the company. Koschitzky has been a key member of the winemaking team at Atelier Melka for the last five years, where, in addition to winemaking, he also focuses on viticulture, strategic planning and new winery development.

Koschitzky’s winemaking resume is impressive and varied. Prior to joining Atelier Melka, he worked at Screaming Eagle and Dalla Valle, and has also been making wine in his native Israel for the last 15 years.

“Over the past five years, Maayan has proved to be both an invaluable member of our winemaking team and a trusted advisor to our clients. Adding him as a partner reinforces his key role at the company,” stated Melka.

ABOUT ATELIER MELKA

Atelier Melka was founded in 1995 by renowned winemaker Philippe Melka and specializes in crafting limited production, site and terroir-specific wines for owners who have made a commitment to establishing legacy brands, vineyards and wineries. In 2002, Atelier Melka expanded beyond Melka himself, adding a small team of highly qualified winemakers and enologists.  In addition to Koschitzky, the team is comprised of Associate Winemaker Meghan Zobeck and Assistant Winemakers Marie-Laure Ammons and Matt Ward.

Over the last nearly 25 years, Atelier Melka has evolved to be far more than a winemaking consultancy, expanding its services to include the evaluation of real estate, architect selection and new winery planning, business plan development, recruitment of in-house winemakers, grape sourcing, as well as soil, vineyard and replanting expertise.

Philippe Melka has been involved in the creation and development of some of Napa’s most prized brands and wineries, and Robert Parker has named him one of the “top nine winemaking consultants in the world.”

Today, while Atelier Melka’s clients primarily are primarily based in the Napa Valley, the company also has clients in Sonoma, Washington State, Santa Rita Hills, Chile and Amador County. For more information on Atelier Melka please visit www.ateliermelka.com
