Innovative, Stylish New Brand Blends High Quality, Premium Wine with Convenient Packaging

HEALDSBURG, Calif. (November 2, 2017) – The founders of Sonoma Cider, the award-winning hard cider company, are delighted to announce their newest brand, Ahoy Wines. Created by David and Robert Cordtz, the prolific father and son team who launched Sonoma Cider in 2013, Ahoy will transform how consumers enjoy wine. With the perfect blend of innovation, convenient packaging and premium wine, Ahoy caters to today’s highly active and savvy consumers who want to enjoy their favorite wines wherever they go.

“Ahoy! We’re excited to delight and surprise consumers with our newest brand concept,” said David Cordtz, co-founder, CEO and Cidermaster of Sonoma Cider.  “We want to transcend traditional perceptions of wine-in-a-can with a premium, American wine that can be enjoyed by everyone – from the pickiest wine enthusiast to the family on-the-go.”

The father and son duo offer longtime industry expertise along with a fresh perspective to the winemaking industry. David Cordtz has been a notable force in Sonoma’s artisanal community for decades, drawing upon his experience with fine wine cellars such as Fetzer, Schramsberg and Cordtz Brothers Cellars where he earned national and international acclaim for his wines. Son Robert Cordtz brings new perspective and dynamism, hoping to eliminate the pretension and uncertainty that can be associated with buying wine.

“We’ve created a premium American wine that is accessible to everyone,” adds Robert Cordtz. “We’re redefining what ‘wine-in-a-can’ means. We’re embracing that simple concept for its accessibility and sustainability, yet we’ve created three high-quality wines that consumers would expect to find when they open a traditional 750ml bottle.”

The name “Ahoy,” reflects David’s vast interest in ships and sailing. A well-seasoned sea traveler, David and his team wanted to create a product that would travel easily and not be a burden.  Moreover, they believe that great wines should also be well traveled, utilizing optimal grapes from both near and far.

Ahoy offers three balanced, bright and enticing varietals from high-caliber American grapes: red, white and sparkling rose. True to their mission, David and Robert have not confined the wine to a specific appellation, preferring to source from the best grapes available found throughout the country.

Ahoy is presented in brightly colored canned “vessels” with Ahoy’s new lighthouse branded icon: red for red wine; fuschia for rose wine; and turqouise for white wine. Each recyclable can is 8.4 ounces and they are offered in 4-packs for $13.99.

Ahoy is available at the Sonoma Cider taproom in Healdsburg, California as well as select retail stores on the West Coast.  For more information and a list of retailers, please visit www.sonomacider.com.
