Michael Dorf’s City Winery Continues Expansion With New Retail Location At Yankee Stadium

NEW YORK, NY (AUGUST 2018) – City Winery along with the New York Yankees, announced a partnership today to create Yankee Stadium’s first wine bar, and City Winery’s first permanent wine bar in a professional sports stadium. The City Winery Wine Bar, which has been designed with a cask-themed aesthetic, is now open to all fans on the Field Level in Section 106 during all Yankees home games. Approaching its 10th year in business in Manhattan (with additional locations in five other U.S. cities), City Winery, is an iconic music venue and restaurant, producing over 500 ticketed concerts a year in New York, and over 2,000 shows a year nationally. City Winery is also New York’s first fully-functioning winery, producing thousands of cases of wine each year across all of its locations.

The New York Yankees singled out City Winery for this partnership because of its unwavering commitment to producing great product while remaining environmentally sustainable due to its unique tap system. The new bar will follow suit, serving wine produced at City Winery’s location in Manhattan to Yankees fans by tap and bottles for purchase.

“The partnership with Yankee Stadium was a no brainer for me,” Dorf explains. “My first City Winery location is in New York and what else is more quintessentially New York than the New York Yankees? It is a perfect fit for both parties and is right on track for where City Winery is headed in terms of venue and retail expansion.”

The tasting menu will include a variety of award winning City Winery favorites including an organic 2017 Sauvignon Blanc with grapes from Windrem Vineyard, Lake County, CA, a 2017 Rooftop Rose with grapes from Mendocino, CA and a 2016 Chardonnay with grapes from Scopus Vineyards, Sonoma Coast, CA.

Yankee Stadium has been previously honored for the variety of wines on offer, having been a part of Wine Spectator’s “Award of Excellence” list since 2016. Additionally, the Yankees Steakhouse (located at Gate 6) has also received Wine Spectator’s “Award of Excellence” designation over the same stretch.
