An hour-long hike and a hands-on pasta making session

Windsor, Sonoma County, March 2019 — Notre Vue Estate offers a fun and interactive event on Sunday, March 24, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the 710-acre vineyard-winery estate in Windsor. Guests will enjoy a hike through the vineyards and upon returning to the winery, Chef Jack Herron of Relish Culinary Adventures will teach a hands-on pasta-making workshop, followed by a lunch of the pastas and sauces which have just been made, accompanied by Notre Vue’s estate-grown wines.

The cost is $145 per person (winery club members receive a discount). Tickets must be purchased in advance, by contacting http://www.relishculinary.com/notrevuepasta.html. The event will not be cancelled in case of rain. The winery is located at 11010 Estate Lane, off Arata Drive, in Windsor (95492).

Hiking boots are recommended for the one-hour hike, which will take the hikers through spring-flower-filled fields as well as next to Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Mourvedre vineyards which extend through both the Chalk Hill and Russian River appellations. Hopefully making an appearance also will be wild turkeys, deer, red-tailed hawks, foxes and golden eagles. The hike will be moderately challenging, as it traverses elevations from 200 to 800 feet.

Upon returning, Chef Herron will lead guests through the process of making pasta from start to finish, from making dough to rolling it out, transforming half into fettuccine and half into ravioli. Chef Herron will also teach the group how to prepare a roasted tomato sauce and an herb-brown butter sauce—all to be enjoyed at lunch, along with green salad and a surprise dessert.

“Everyone will be hands-on with all steps in the process, kneading, rolling, cutting, shaping—we’re talking grown-up Play-doh here,” explains Chef Herron. Guests will leave with copies of recipes for all of the dishes they have prepared.

The wines to be served will be 2015 Reserve Balverne Chardonnay and 2015 Reserve Balverne Pinot Noir.
